Notes: luxurious and gorgeous ambiance with incredible service. If you've ever been curious about different types of caviar, the Tiffany Caviar Tasting is an excellent intro!

Recommended: book via OpenTable for a spectacular celebration with the splurge-worthy combo of champagne and caviar.

Like the Cha Cha Matcha Pop-Up from last year, Petrossian at Tiffany is also well-decorated, and today we learned that more changes are on the way, including a new official sign and an upcoming switch to marble tables.

Our table for two was ready with a name card:

We started off with the TIFFANY CAVIAR TASTING (Tsar Imperial Grade) which includes 3g of each of the 4 caviar offerings: Baika, Shassetra, Ossetra, and Kaluga Huso Hybrid. Each type of caviar is served on a gorgeous Petrossian mother of pearl spoon.

We were instructed to sample the caviar spoons from left to right:

Baika: strong ocean flavor, plenty of saltiness, reminiscent of seaweed, and has soft texture. After sampling the first one, we were really excited to try the others because we thought, how could it get better from here?

Shassetra: slightly firmer texture, still tastes of the sea, but was more mellow than the Baika. It reminded my tastebuds of a slightly sweet oyster or some kind of sweet nori, and was absolutely scrumptious.

Ossetra: we were surprised to read that this has a "fresh and fruity" description; we were first hit with the brininess of the caviar, but then observed that the flavors changed over time, with a good aftertaste that lingers.

Kaluga huso hybrid: creamy but firm, and easily the best texture out of the four. It has a buttery, nutty, and lovely aftertaste that lingers. Not at all briny or fishy, and it was our favorite of the four.

After the Tiffany Caviar Tasting, we were eager to try some main courses. First up, we tried the EGG ROYALE, which ended up being our favorite. Soft and savory eggs topped with chives, crème fraîche, and caviar, and served in an actual egg shell. An incredible mix of flavors and a dish I'd come back for in a heartbeat.

The HAND SLICED SMOKED SALMON was as beautiful as it was delicious. Served with toast points, caper berries, pickled red onions, and pretty wildflowers, this was a super high-quality dish and a welcome flavor profile change after the caviar tasting.

The POTATO MILLE-FEUILLE was both fancy and flavorful. Imagine a deluxe and upscale "hash brown" with layer upon layer of thinly sliced, crispy, and buttery potatoes topped with crème fraîche, herbs, and caviar. Would definitely order again!

Close up of the myriad layers of potato:

The BEEF TARTARE was a beautiful work of art mixed with shallots, cornichons, and covered in glistening caviar. The final touch was the edible gold flakes because this, after all, is Tiffany's. This dish was served with some crunchy sourdough crostinis and was very satisfying.

Dessert was on the house - thank you so much for a wonderful and delicious experience!

Until next time!
